Clients

Who are our clients?

We are often asked, "Am I old enough to need an elder law attorney?" Fortunately, there is no age limit - upper or lower - for our clients. Although we do specialize in working with older adults and their families, much of that work translates for clients of any age.

Every adult should have at least basic estate planning in place, regardless of age. Our probate services are available to families dealing with the death of a loved one. Finally, our elder law clients include older adults who need assistance with legal issues, financial asset preservation, or social services.  Click here to learn more about Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney.

Our Life Care Planning clients are older adults, their spouses and families who are seeking a more comprehensive approach to long term care planning and chronic condition management. They are persons who understand the value in having a trained, accessible advisor, familiar with their family situation and care wishes, available to assist with a myriad of health care issues and decisions. They believe in planning ahead and making decisions now, so that they may enjoy their time with their family and friends.  They recognize the benefit of a multidisciplinary approach to dealing with chronic illness.  Click here to learn more about Life Care Planning.

Am I your client, or is my parent?

When we meet with clients, we like to meet with as many family members and involved persons as possible.  While we realize this may not always include the entire family, we like to make the effort to include every one and get as many opinions and thoughts as are practical.  This can go a long way in preventing disagreements in the future as well as making sure the person receiving care has all of their needs met.  While we prefer to meet with the whole family, the person or persons receiving care are our client.  Our philosophy is one of inclusion: we want to include the entire family and use that support to advocate for the older adult in the best way possible.  We welcome all points of view, but our primary focus is ensuring the person receiving care has all needs met.

When Do I Need Help?

If you are not sure that you need help, here are a few things to think about:

--Have I been told that need extra help at home?

--Is my gross income more than $2022.00 a month?

--Do I have more than $2000.00 in assets?

--I want to stay in my home as long as possible.

--I have limited family or community support.

--I have had a major life change (death of a loved one, marriage) that is not reflected in my current Estate Planning.

If you can answer "Yes" to any of these questions / statements, then you may benefit from some help with long term planning. Give us a call today and let our professional team help you plan for your future.
